Character - Romeo
The play "Rome & Juliet was written by William Shakespeare and in this play one of the main characters is Romeo. In this play Romeo's character helps the reader to understand the main idea which is the consequences of revenge. Romeo's character does this by his impulsiveness and his irrational decision making. I also enjoyed Romeo's character as he made the play more interesting with his impulsiveness and his irrational decision making.
In this play Romeo is a young man in his late teens who lives in a city called Verona. Romeo is part of the Montague's who are mortal enemies of the Capulet's. In this play Romeo is desperate to find a lover and at first he depresses over a virtually non-existence relationship with a girl he has a crush on by the name of Rosaline. Romeo would spend his days crying quoted by his father “many a morning.....mornings dew." however during the play Romeo changes his personality as he becomes more social and brave. This happens when Romeo and some people from the Montague family raid a party thrown by the Capulet's. In the party Romeo sees Juliet and instantly falls in love with her. This is shown when Romeo says “Did my heart love...till this night." Three things that I enjoyed about Romeo were that he was brave, unintelligent and his irrational decision making.
An example of when Romeo was brave was when he sneaked up and climbed the balcony where Juliet's bedroom was. This showed his bravery as if he was going to get caught climbing up the Capulet's house he would of been killed. This kind of action from Romeo shows his impulsiveness as he did this without thinking and the only thing on his mind was to see Juliet. It shows that Romeo acts without thinking.
An example of when Romeo was unintelligent was when he chose to buy the poison from the dealer and dank it. This type of decision making clearly shows that Romeo's character does things with out thinking and is just unintelligent.
An example of Romeo's irrational decision making was when he decided to kill himself because he found out that Juliet had died. This was a poor decision by Romeo as he should have just waited a little longer for the letter explaining everything. This decision to kill himself shows Romeo's impulsiveness and his quick decision making.
I also enjoyed Romeo's Character in this play because he helped me to understand the main idea of the consequences of revenge better. The first example of this was the death of Tybalt’s and the second was when Romeo & Juliet died.
The first example of the consequences of revenge was when Tybalt was sleign by Romeo. This happened because Romeo wanted revenge on Tybalt for killing Mercutio. The reason Tybalt killed Mercutio was because Tybalt wanted revenge on Romeo because Romeo declined the challenge of Tybalt. Instead Romeo wanted to make peace with Tybalt and with these words coming out of Romeo's mouth Mercutio took the challenge and died. These actions between these characters clearly show what happens when revenge is taken out on people and it leads to bad consequences. The consequences that came out of this were the death of Mercutio and Tybalt and the banishment of Romeo from Verona which split up Romeo from Juliet which would result in more trouble.
The second example of the consequences of revenge was the death of Romeo and Juliet. The death of Romeo and Juliet happened due to the feud between the Montague’s and the Capulet's. This feud was an ancient grudge that began long ago but in the prologue it states that no one knows why. Due to this feud the relationship of Romeo and Juliet was cut and they couldn't have a proper one as Juliet was supposed to marry Paris. The consequences of this vendetta happened because the two families wouldn't stop fighting with each other. The death of Romeo and Juliet happened because Juliet wanted to fake her death by drinking a potion and when she had faked her death Romeo wanted to kill himself and bought some poison because he thought she was really dead. Romeo then killed himself and so did Juliet when she had seen Romeo dead. All of this happened because Juliet didn't want to marry Paris and Romeo's impulsiveness and poor decision making.
I enjoyed reading about Romeo's character in this play as he added a lot to this play through his impulsiveness and his quick decision making. With these characteristics of Romeo in the play it had a lot of depth and it gave me a better understanding of the play and the main idea of the negative consequences of revenge.

Conflict
In the play “Romeo and Juliet” wrote by William Shakespeare one important conflict which is an ancient grudge between two families the montages and the Capulet’s.
This ancient grudge between these two families helped me to understand the main idea of the consequences of revenge.
This ancient grudge between the Capulet’s and the montages started a long time ago and ever since they have been enemies. This is stated in the prologue " Two households both alike in dignity...to new mutiny." although they have had along grudge against each other the prologue doesn’t state how the feud started.
The conflict is introduced when Benvolio and Tybalt start fighting in act I scene 1. A sigh of conflict was when Tybalt said "as I hate hell I hate all montages and thee"
this shows the hatred that Tybalt has for Benvolio as he is a Montague.
Another sigh of conflict between the montages and Capulet's was when Benvolio, Mercutio, Romeo and some other Montages decided to interrupt and crash the party of the Capulet’s. This shows the hate that the montages have for the Capulet’s as they are prepared to invade the Capulet’s masquerade ball.
At the Capulet’s party there is almost a fight when Tybalt sees Romeo. as Tybalt sees Romeo he is prepared to start a fight as he says "fetch me my rapier" and "this is a Montague our foe" however the result of this is that Tybalt was restrained by Capulet saying "be quiet...cheerly my hearts" these words from Tybalt shows how much he hates the montages as he wanted to start a fight at the Capulet’s own party.
The turning point in the play is when Mercutio is sleign by Tybalt. This happened because Romeo who had become husband of Juliet from the Capulet’s wanted to make peace with his new family. As outraged as he was Tybalt set a challenge to Romeo to fight him but he refused. The result of this ended up in the death of Mercutio as Mercutio was shocked by what Romeo was saying and fought Tybalt himself. This resulted in Tybalt’s death as Romeo fought Tybalt after he had killed Mercutio in seek of revenge for his friend.
One of the main messages coming out of the text is that no matter what happens conflict between the two families will come out and cause havoik. An example of this was when Romeo tried to make peace with Tybalt. Even though Romeo was doing his best to try and end the feud the conflict between the two families showed as Tybalt angrily reacted.
The conflict between these two families helped me to understand the main idea of revenge better as it was shown a lot between the two families. The first example was the death of Mercutio and the death of Tybalt. Both of these deaths happened because of the conflict between the two families and resulting in revenge for Romeo as he killed Tybalt because Tybalt had killed his best friend Mercutio.
The other consequences of the revenge were the death of Romeo and Juliet. This happened because both of these families had a rivalry that was full of unimaginable hate. The result of this conflict ended in the death of the Capulet’s daughter and the Montague’s son.
In the play "Romeo and Juliet" I think that Shakespeare is trying to tell us that the result of fighting between people is ungrateful and that it will eventually end as how no one wanted it to end. I think that he is also trying to say that no matter how hard two people try in a fight they both come out losers. I think that this message is still alive as it shows in the TV programs and Film.
